Sunday, May 6, 2018 was a normal Sunday afternoon. I spent the day with my family attending my nieces gymnastics meet and had a great time. On the way home I remember thinking... I should stop at CVS to get another box of tests since we were out. Every month I would buy another set of tests, and every month they would come back negative. As I walked in, I was greeted by the cashier and asked if I needed help finding anything. I smiled quickly and said, "No, I'm good, but thank-you". What I wanted to say was, "hello lady, you see me in here every month... I get the same thing and you ask me the same question." But instead I walked straight down the center isle and took a hard left when I made it to the back of the store. Picked up a new test and turned the walk back to the register. I remember walking past the card isle, because I could spend hours in the card isle laughing and crying and finding just the perfect card for the perfect occasion. Mother's Day was quickly approaching and I should be searching for the best card for the best mother... and dreaming about one day getting my very own mothers day card... but instead I went and checked out and headed home.
Once I got home I unloaded my car, kissed my husband and furkids, and eventually took "the test". I read the instructions, made sure I was doing it correctly, etc. I realized I got a nicer test as this one had a timer on it and I didn't have to start my phone timer. So once the test window started... I sat and waited. It seemed like an ETERNITY, yet it read PREGNANT within 15 seconds. I just sat there, trying to gather myself and my thoughts. "How did this happen? Oh My God! I'm so happy. WOW, it finally happened. How am I going to tell John. What happens now? Is it real? I've taken so many, maybe this is a false-positive. Oh no... it was Cinco De Mayo.... and this momma loves Mexican and Margarittas, just great, I have contaminated my embryo with tequila." So my final thought was, I'll go to Barnes and Nobles and buy every parenting book on the market and when I come back I'll take the second test from the box and if that also says pregnant, then maybe I'll believe it. And sure enough.... 15 seconds later.... PREGNANT!
So, I did what anyone with two adorable fur kids would do.... I let them tell John we were expecting. :)
